Yesterday, Kendall Jenner stepped out in a familiar look. While the supermodel wore a relatively simple ensemble which included a pair of brown heels, bootcut jeans, a brown bag, she also wore a sleek leather statement coat that was colorblocked in black and white, and tightly cinched around the waist. You may have seen the coat from pre-fall Celine 2018, aka Phoebe Philo’s Old Celine, before: Jenner’s older sister Kourtney Kardashian first stepped out in the coat in 2019 while attending Fashion Week. This was the same the same year Kardashian began to find her personal style groove with the help of her stylist Dani Michelle (who now also styles Jenner) and wore archival items as well as labels like Haider Ackermann and Helmut Lang.

This isn’t the first time that Jenner and Kardashian have traded clothes. Back in January 2018, Jenner was captured wearing an uber rare Jean Paul Gaultier Venus de Milo print T-shirt in earthy hues of green and orange. A few months later in September, Kardashian was spotted wearing the same T-shirt. Kim Kardashian has also borrowed from her sisters’ closets. In 2019, she wore a slinky white slip dress from Kylie Jenner for a fitting.
While we’ve seen the pieces before, it’s actually refreshing to see them again, now styled in a different way and on a different personality. And why wouldn’t they trade clothes? They’re sisters after all, and each have stellar, expansive wardrobes. Like rewearing a piece on the red carpet, sharing clothes is a relatable—not to mention more sustainable—way to dress as a celebrity. Let’s hope that we see more of Jenner-Kardashian’s shared wardrobe out and about in the near future.
